I am just an ordinary girl, in an ordinary world who loves to share her writing with you all, so please come and check out my daily blog, you won't regret it.
I hope you are all having a fantastic Monday, filled with lots of things to do, whether it be work, school or even just chilling while finishing up those last few days of holiday.
In my case, we are working and looking after my very adorable nephew who I love so much.
So the weekend has officially come to end and wow it has been a busy one.
Considering Friday is still a week day, I never really count it as part of the weekend, so I will be starting with what I did on Saturday. I started the day by feeding my neighbours dogs as it was the last day that I was feeding them as part of my house sitting / pet sitting work, shortly after that, my mom and I went to the courier so we could send some packages that our clients had ordered from our online business. Then we went to Hirsches to finally get a Nespresso Coffee Machine and we went to the new hardware store called Leroy Merlin next to Fourways Mall to check it out and wow, is it awesome or what !!! When we got back home, we started packaging all of our products on our online business to give it a personal touch and also getting ready for the market we have in our estate next weekend, which we are so excited about. We basically did that for the remainder of the day.
Today, we went to Fourways Mall, we were supposed to only go to the Apple Store and to the Nespresso stand, but we ended up going to Incredible Connection to get a card machine because the Apple Store didn’t have any stock, Clicks, the Nespresso stand to get some coffee for our new machine, and lastly Pandora so that I could finally get a ring that won’t last under a week before my finger starts to turn green. Then when we got home, I started setting up the card machine with some delicious coffee by my side, after setting up the machine I continued to repackage and get ready for next weekend while watching some TV.
All in all I had a pretty good and eventful weekend.
What did you do this weekend, and what was the highlight.
I know you haven’t heard from me in a while, but I do plan to change that, whether it be a small post or a large post about all of the joys in life 🙂 Today I want to to talk about all of your greatest achievements in life, because we all have at least one achievement that we are proud of.
Out of all of my achievements, my greatest ones are getting my mom and my online business off the ground which I am so beyond happy about, and my ultimate achievement is finally getting to write articles for a magazine which has been my dream for I don’t know how long. Setting goals and achieving them is the best thing you could ever do, because when you achieve those dreams it gives you a feeling that you have been wanting to feel since you set that goal, and it is a truly unimaginable feeling that you just don’t want to disappear.
Now enough about me, what are your greatest achievements and how did make them come true.
We are all born with emotions that moulds us into the person that we become. There are so many different types of emotions for example: happiness, sadness, fear, disgust, anger, surprise and the most powerful emotion is love.
Love is the most powerful emotion that you can have, because it doesn’t come around often and it can become so strong that it consumes you in an unimaginable way that can make you laugh and bring your spirits up or it can break you down if you lose it. There are so many different kinds of love that a person can have in their life, like the love a family, a friend, a boyfriend or girlfriend or even a pet.
Even though it is very easy and quick for some people to find love, it is just as easy and quick to have your heart broken, this could happen from a death in the family, losing a friend or the most common one is ending a relationship with someone who could potentially be “the one”.
It is very scary to think of having your heart broken because it isn’t a nice feeling, trust me I have had that feeling once or twice in my life. This kind of emotion is very hard to handle but it can also make a person stronger, wiser and it can mould us into the person we are today and the person that we want to be in the future. My parents taught me that with each love lost, you learn a little more about yourself and what to look for.
They always say that you have to kiss a few frogs before you can find your prince charming, I agree with that statement 100%. Never lose faith in yourself when you get your heart broken, I always say that you have one or two big cries and then get back up and try again.
I would like to end this with a quote, “To the world you may be one person, but to one person you are the world” by Bill Wilson
Easter has a very long history, both traditional and non-traditional. Let’s have a look at the traditional side of this very “sweet” holiday.
The name Easter comes from the Anglo Saxon goddess of spring and fertility, Easter or Eostrae. This very sweet holiday falls on the first Sunday after the first full moon which happens on or after the spring equinox.
Easter Sunday marks the start of Eastertide or more commonly known as the Easter season. Eastertide ends on the 50th day after Easter which is also known as Pentecost Sunday. Easter is also linked to a Jewish holiday, this holiday is called Passover. Passover is essentially the last supper. Jesus has given this holiday a new significance and he identifies the bread he ate with his apostles, as his body and the drinking of red wine was his blood. The link between these two very important holidays is seen at the last supper which occurred the night before Jesus was arrested. There is a period that is prior to Easter and holds a great significance to the Western Christians, this period is called Lent. Lent starts on Ash Wednesdays and happens for 40 days, excluding Sundays. The reason why Sundays are not included is because on the christian calendars, Sundays are counted as feast days. The last week of lent is called Palm Week and ends with Lazarus Saturday, this is the day before Palm Sunday. On Palm Sunday, Jesus’s followers commemorate his arrival into Jerusalem. They greet him by laying palm leaves across the road.
A traditional Easter dinner is lamb, because it was used as a sacrificial animal in Jewish traditions, and lamb is also normally used for food during passover. The saying “Lamb of God” is referring to the sacrificial nature of Jesus’s death.
Now that we have learnt about the traditional part of Easter, we can now talk about the non-traditional part of Easter.
Most people do focus on both the traditional and the non-traditional celebrations, but a lot of these people tend to focus on the non-traditional side of things. Examples of these non-traditional celebrations are: Egg Hunts, Egg Decorating and Egg Rolling. Almost everything around us has a hidden meaning to it that we do not know about, Easter eggs have a whole new meaning to them than just sugary treats we eat to sweeten up our day. The eggs represent fertility and birth in pagan traditions. A lot of people, mainly children, like to participate in the Annual White House Easter Egg Roll, the objection of this game is to roll Easter eggs down the Capitol Hill, this is apparently the most famous easter tradition.
Now the moment you have all been waiting for, the most well known part of Easter, is when a character jumps around to different houses carrying a basket filled with chocolate eggs and other delicious sweet treats that make you feel sick throughout the whole Easter season, but the sickness is worth it because Easter wouldn’t be the same without it. This character is the one and only EASTER BUNNY.
Nobody really knows what the exact origins of the Easter Bunny traditions are, some historians do believe that the Easter bunny arrived in America in the 1700s with German immigrants.
These days, Easter is not only a traditional holiday, but it is also a commercial event, marked by greeting cards, candies and other gifts.
Easter is a time of year, when families come together and share a meal and play games with Easter eggs, then they eat the Easter eggs for desert.
I hope you all enjoyed these facts about Easter and all appreciate the History behind it, I certainly enjoyed researching the History.
I hope you all had a very special Valentines Day yesterday and either celebrated with your significant other or even just spent a nice afternoon with your families.
The history of this very romantic holiday was not always sunshine and rainbows. A very very long time ago there was a guy named Emperor Claudius 11 and he believed that young men would make better soldiers if they were not married because then they would have nothing tying them down. Claudius then decided to make it a rule that young lovers were not allowed to marry each other.
After Saint Valentine heard about this new law he was not very happy about it and so he decided to start marrying young people privately behind Claudius’s back. When Claudius found out about these secret marriages, he had Saint Valentine killed for going against his law. Before Claudius had him killed he first put Saint Valentine away to prison… The popular signature of saying “from your valentine” was invented when Saint Valentine used to secretly send love letters to the women that he loved and he signed them “from your valentine” and after that the trend had started
Some people say that the reason why Valentines Day is in the middle of the month is to commemorate the anniversary of Saint Valentines death.
When I learnt this history I was actually really surprised at how dark it was in the beginning and then I read about what Saint Valentine did and it made me appreciate Valentines Day so much more, because I thought of the sacrifice he made to bring together two people who love each other and secretly marry them to make them happy.
The lesson that has been learnt here is that you must cherish the person that you are in a relationship with, because at the end of he day, there are some people who don’t get to experience love.
Have you ever read a book and formed a real connection to one of the characters, well I definitely have a book that I can relate to.
It is the second book in the Seven Sisters series written by Lucinda Riley. It is about a girl named Star and she starts off being very shy and hides behind her sister basically. As the story goes on, Star starts to break out of her bubble and becomes quite independent as she learns new things about herself.
The reason why I relate to her is because, when I first meet people I tend to come off as a little shy and quite an introvert but as time goes by, I also come out of my bubble and become more of an extrovert.
I have never really been the type of person that can get on a stage in front of a bunch of people and make a grand speech, I would just get too nervous, but if you give me enough time to get to know a person then it becomes a lot easier for me to come out of my bubble and then the person can also start to get to know me better. I am trying to change this about myself by going out and talking to more people, but for now I am happy with who I am and I have no complaints about the type of person I am, although I am sure there is always room for improvement:)
It has now been 6 weeks since I had my appendix taken out, and I am very happy because I can finally do something more than just sitting on my couch and watching TV, I even cooked French Toast for myself. I have also started going on small walks around the estate with my parents and sometimes by myself.
Since I still cannot do any dancing yet until February (a decision I made to be super cautious), I have decided to start doing art again. While I was recovering, my mom and I received our order of adult paint by numbers and cross stitch. I began with doing some paint by numbers and I must say, it is so much fun and very calming and relaxing. After doing some of the painting, I decided to continue doing some of my Diamond Painting, and I am looking forward to trying the cross stitch next.
I have mentioned before that my mom and I have our own online business selling Diamond Paintings and we are going to start adding new products to our business such as, Adult Paint By Numbers, Cross Stitch and Puzzles. The link to our business is colour-waves.com
I am now focusing on the business so that my mom and I can make more sales and expand even further.
Even though these are small things, they still make a big difference in my life, because it gives me a chance to get out of the house, or at least out of my chair.
When we are younger we all have an idea of what we want to become when we are older and out of school. Some people choose to be Doctors, Fire Fighters and or Journalists.
Ever since I was 8 years old, all I wanted to be was a professional tennis player, people even used to say I looked like I was related to Roger Federer… if that’s not a sign then I don’t know what is. I did everything it took to be a professional, I had coaching lessons from a variety of different coaches, even one that used to be a professional tennis player and I entered into a lot of SATA (South African Tennis Association) tournaments . When I got to high school I realised that I needed to do more, so I enrolled in a tennis academy in Potchefstroom called RVTA where I was coached by the best of the best. We played 6 hours of tennis a day and 2 of those hours were dedicated to fitness and ice bathing.
After 6 months of being at the tennis academy, I realised that being a professional tennis player is not what I was meant to become because I really battled while I was there as it was very tough and takes a lot of dedication, I now play tennis for fun.
When I got back to my old school Lonehill Academy, I realised that I had a passion for writing. I am not the type of person who can write a novel and be the next Nora Roberts, but if you give me someone to interview and write an article about, I can definitely do that, I now write articles for my estates newsletter. Journalism was my true dream career, however I unfortunately did not get the grades to be able to study Journalism. I wasn’t really happy that I couldn’t study and so my mom gave me the idea to start this blog and I couldn’t be happier with the outcome. I developed a different type of passion for dancing when I signed up for ballroom lessons. I thoroughly enjoyed my time doing ballroom dancing and learnt a lot about the different dances, other people and myself, but for various reasons, it was time to move on and so my mom had the idea of me doing contemporary dancing and I am very passionate about contemporary, I basically owe all of my success to my mom. We even have our own business together called Color Wave, where we sell Diamond Painting and are hoping to expand our products, the link to our online catalogue is https://colour-waves.com
The point I am trying to make in this post is that, if your dream something, you can do it…. sometimes you just need to use a bit of imagination in order to get there.
So now that we have entered the new year, let’s talk about goals for this year.
Every year people always make goals for the new year, sometimes they come true and sometimes they don’t.
For this year the only goal I have is to live life to the fullest and be the best person, dancer and writer that I can be. Don’t get me wrong, I am all for setting personal goals like getting a job, going to college, starting new hobbies, but I realized that things are always changing so quickly and sometimes those goals don’t work out but that’s ok, because you can always make new goals.
I have never been the type of person that can “go with the flow” but from what I have learnt from 2020 is that you have to adapt and go with the flow 😄 I am very excited for this new year because with a new year you always have a fresh start.
