Learn New Things Everyday

Hey guys

Its been a really long time since the last time I blogged and I must say, a lot has happened in my life. I have been wanting to make this post since April this year, but every time I sat down to write it I just did not know where to start, but today I woke up and decided that it was time I start posting again because I miss sharing my life experiences with all of you.

On the 29th March I made one of the biggest decisions I have had to make and that decision was to leave my job at Africa Padel at The German Country Club. For those of you who have read my blog posts will know that the job I had there meant everything to me and I loved it so much, and as with all things there comes a time when you need to move on to different experience, I will forever be thankful for the things that they taught me. Luckily for me I was only unemployed for 2 days, because I went for a job interview for a different Padel venue called Jozi Padel and not only got a job but I got a job as the Junior manager and now also the coach. This job is definitely a much better fit for me and there is ample space for growth and I love the vibe here, lets just say this was the best decision I have ever made.

About 2 weeks later I made another life changing decision and that was to get certified as a Padel coach through an online course with a place called Padel MBA. This was weeks of hard work and late-night study sessions, I would study before work, after work and even during work if I had the time. When I eventually finished the theory part, there was a man named Pau who came from Spain and did the practical part with us and that was the most intense three days ever. We started early in the morning and finished late in the evening with long sessions and 5-minute breaks, it was truly an amazing experience but also very tiring. Pau was a Padel coach for 16 years. After I found out that I passed my course I was overjoyed and felt a sense of relief and achievement.

I have now finally started coaching and I am loving every single minute of it. Just knowing that I am helping people makes everything I did totally worth it.

I would like to end off with a quote by Maya Angelou “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.”

Things We Can and Cannot Control

Hey everyone

There are certain things in life that we are in control of, for example, who we follow on social media, our attitudes, what we consume, our boundaries, our words, our resposense and last but certainly not the least, our energy.

There are also certain things in life we have absolutely no control of, for example, the past, algorithms, other people’s behaviours and beliefs, the future, the media and other people’s opinions of me.

We always tend to make life difficult for ourselves and focus more on things we can no longer control rather than focusing on the things that are in our control. Sometimes I don’t actually think we do this on purpose, because I mean who would want to feel stressed, unhappy and not in control.

So even though it may be difficult to do, whenever you feel yourself focusing on something that it no longer in our control, just take a moment to think about what we can control even if it is 1 small simple task like eating better. If you do this, I guarantee your life will be at least 90% better.

What types of things do you find are not in your control. You can email me on kellypeep7@gmail.com or even send me a dm on my Instagram account @kellys_daily_blog

Who Says You Need Electricity To Have Fun !

Hey guys

I hope you are all having a fantastic day and week.

This week has been a very busy and chaotic week for me work wise and personally as well. I have had some new experiences and I am also very busy with work now because there are a lot of people that are starting to come back to Padel now that the holiday season is over.

I think we can all admit that all of this loadshedding has become quite a big issue and people are starting to get very irritated because they cannot use internet and all of those things. We need to start seeing the positive side of things especially now so that we can keep our sanity. Now I know that loadshedding is not very good work wise as people need the internet and not everyone is fortunate enough to have generators or a UPS, but if you need ideas for powerless entertainment, I have a couple of ideas for you.

When there is loadshedding during the day you can spend some time outdoors like going for walks or even playing sports for example Tennis, Soccer and even Padel which is a combination of Squash and Tennis so with that sport you are actually getting a two in one. You can also try out new hobbies like painting, drawing, maybe starting your own blog and writing about basically anything and everything. When there is loadshedding in the evenings you can spend time with family and friends and maybe play some board games and read a good book (reading is also a great daytime activity) and if you need any lights for any of this then torches are always an option.

So, there are many things you can do during loadshedding, and I probably haven’t even mentioned all of them, so even when you feel really down and negative just try and be positive and see the good amongst all of this bad.

If you can think of any other things to do during loadshedding then just mention it to me, you can email me on kellypeep7@gmail.com or send me a DM on my Instagram account @kellys_daily_blog

Thanks for reading my blog guys, have a fantabulous day xx

Work Hard, Dream Big

Hey guys

The one lesson that last year taught me was that if you work hard, you can achieve your goals.

I used to be the type of person that did not have the greatest work ethic and I think that was just because I didn’t truly know what hard work felt like but now, I do understand what it means to work hard. Ever since I started working for Africa Padel, I have had the mindset of nothing comes for free and you have to work hard in order to reach your goals, because at the end of the day when we really put our best foot forwards, we can accomplish anything.

Mind over matter truly is the best way to look at things and you need to create a positive mindset in order to really be able to get what you want. If you believe that you can do something, then you generally can do it. Now I am not promising that this works for everybody but having a positive mindset does help a lot.

If for example you want to be a doctor, but it doesn’t work out that way no matter how positively you look at it, you must always keep believing and eventually you will find what you are meant to do in the most unexpected ways.

I would like to end off with a quote “Two things you are in total in control of in life are your attitude and effort”.

New Year = Fresh Start

Happy New Year everybody

It feels like I haven’t written a blog post in such a long time, I have just been so busy lately that every time I plan on writing one, I always end up getting busy with something else.

For me, 2022 was probably the best year I have had in a long time, and I plan on making 2023 even better. Last year I felt like I learnt a lot about myself and how to become more independent, I got a promotion at work which was such a huge thing for me because I have been working very hard in my opinion to get into this exact position and I am loving it.

People always set goals for themselves at the beginning of the new year and sometimes we try and achieve those goals and other times we just let them slip by, but this year I am going to make it my mission to achieve my goals.

I am already saving money into an investment and have been for years, but this year I want to stop spending my money in my bank account on silly things and actually build up that as well. This year I would also like to learn how to cook, to start eating a little healthier and I want to also blog more, I am going to try make posts at least 2 times a week (I have other ones to but those are more for fun, these are my more serious and big goals)

What goals do you guys have for this year and how do you plan on achieving them ?

Trying New Things

Since I was 6 years old the only sport I have been interested in playing was Tennis, my life revolved around it. Now don’t get me wrong Tennis is still very much a huge part of me, but it is no longer my only love. I have recently discovered a brand-new sport that has been brought to South Africa, it is called Padel.

Padel is a very nice mixture of Tennis and Squash. Tennis and Padel are very different in many ways, but they are also very similar in a lot of other ways. Padel is surrounded by 4 glass panels whereas Tennis is surrounded by fences. In Padel you can hit off of the wall when you are playing, but I guarantee if you try to hit the ball against a Tennis fence it will most definitely not come back to you. Most people would say that the most difficult shot to play in Tennis is the serve because you have to do this huge, complicated shot that injures your arm most of the time, but in Padel all you have to do is serve under arm.

As most of you know, I work in the Pro Shop at the German Country Club and one of the first questions clients ask me when they walk into the shop is “which do you prefer, Tennis or Padel” and the answer is simple… I love them both equally because they both have certain aspects that make them fun.

I must say that I love the social aspect of Padel, it is a nice family sport and it is great for doing team building events and birthday parties, some people even have nappy parties at the Padel courts. Most people enjoy the Padel because it is a lot easier than Tennis, it is not as technical.

“Never be afraid of trying new things because life gets boring when you stay within the limits of what you already know”

A True Legend Is Hard To Find

“There is no way around hard work. Embrace it.”

That quote was said by the one and only Tennis legend Mr Roger Federer. Ever since I was a young girl my one and only goal was to become just like Roger Federer. I spent almost half of my life switching between tennis coaches trying to find the perfect one which was very difficult because all of them were training me perfectly in completely different ways. So, I decided to take the biggest leap of faith and I went to The Riaan Venter Tennis Academy in Potchefstroom. Now to say that going there was tough would be the understatement of the century, playing Tennis for 4 hours a day and fitness for 2 hours is really hard but so rewarding at the end of the day because you realise that at the end of every day you are getting closer to reaching all of your goals.

During the week I was practising Tennis and going for lessons and on the weekends, I would be playing in Tennis tournaments which was incredibly fun but also incredibly competitive. Even though I truly enjoyed all of this, I realised that being a professional Tennis player is not what I am destined to become, truthfully, I am not too sure who I am destined to become.

This post is not about me though, it is about the true Tennis legend otherwise known as Roger Federer who over the years of watching him has taught me not only how to become the best Tennis player I could be, but he taught me how to become a good person which I believe is the best lesson you could ever learn.

So, I say good luck to Roger Federer in his retirement, we will all miss him

Lets Drink Some “Tea” And Eat Some Cake

Hey guys

On the 13 August I went to my sister in laws bridal shower and I had the best time. Not only was this my first time at a bridal shower, it was also my first time attending a kitchen tea.

My dad fetched me straight after work and took me, my sister and my aunt so that we did not have to drive all the way there and back as it was quick far away and rather confusing as well to get there. My mom had to meet us there because she got there 2 hours early as she was helping set up.

When we got there it was decorated so beautifully, there were flowers, some alcohol and lots of delicious food and snacks, all including 2 cakes, 1 carrot cake and 1 chocolate cake. After we ate our food we went into the lounge and watched some videos that her mom and family in Australia made for her because they couldn’t be there to celebrate in person.

I think the funniest part of the day was when the dog kept eating the food off of the table, it definitely reminded me of the dog from the movie Marley and Me.

All in all it was a pretty great day and it has made me even more excited for the wedding, and I cannot wait to tell all of you about the wedding and how it went.

Lets Play Some Padel

Hey guys

I hope all of the ladies had a spectacular Women’s Day yesterday and felt very spoiled and special.

I celebrated Women’s Day in the best way possible with all of my lovely friends and family. At work we had a ladies day event where we started by doing 30 minutes of Pilates which was so amazing and definitely worked every muscle in my body (I really felt it the next day). After we did the Pilates we did about 2 or 3 hours of a Padel Tournament, 7 rounds of a round robin and then semi’s and finals and there were no winners prizes or losers prizes, all 56 of us walked away with something special in the form of a nice hamper which made us all feel very special.

After having a tiring but rewarding and fun time on the Padel court, we were treated to a very delicious buffet breakfast, we had some scrambled eggs, bacon, pork sausage, toast, mushrooms, beans and delicious chocolate cake for dessert. All of the tables were also decorated so beautifully with biscuits and flowers on each table.

Padel is such an amazing sport and it is truly an awesome way to have events and celebrate special holidays and occasions. It is a fun and easy game to play, basically anyone can play it, even if you have never played a ball sport in your life for example Tennis or Squash. I can say with absolute certainty that I am 100% hooked and addicted to this game.

Normally I am definitely not a morning person but getting up at 05:15 to play Padel was definitely worth it. (I had to get up that early so that I could help bring all the boxes to the German Country Club where the event had taken place).

Every Wednesday morning we have what we call a “ladies morning” and this is where we just do the Pilates and the Padel which is super fun and I think you can guess how tired all of us ladies were when we did that, and especially doing the Pilates again, but all the pain was worth it because I always feel good after playing a good game of Padel and the Pilates was fun to.

I just want to end this post with a quote “The purpose of our lives is to be happy”

I hope you all enjoyed reading this post

Find Your Anchor

Hey everyone

I hope you guys are all keeping warm with your blankets and some nice hot chocolate.

I was watching The Fosters the other day, which happens to be one of my favourite series and there was one scene that really caught my attention. Before I explain what happened in the scene, I just want to give you a brief description of the show.

Police officer Stef Foster and Vice Principal Lena Adams are the parents of Brandon Foster, Stef’s biological son from her previous marriage, and twins Jesus and Mariana, who were adopted as children. Lena went over to Juvi where 16 year old Callie Jacobs was because of an incident that occurred at her previous foster home and with much hesitation decided to take Callie to her home. Since Callie had just come out of Juvi, her personality was still a bit rough and she had a lot of trust issues and so that made it hard for Lena and Steph to accept her into their family fully. Eventually Callie’s little brother Jude comes into the mix and changes things up because now that she has Jude she finally feels like she can trust somebody and comes out of her shell a little bit. Callie and Jude have been in many different foster homes, but when they are placed with the Fosters, things begin to happen.

This series has a lot of ups and downs, there is drama, romance breakups and a lot of life lessons but the most important thing you learn when you watch this show is that being a part of a loving family is really important and means everything.

So going back to the beginning of this post, I was saying that there was a scene that really captured my full attention. Jude had to do an assignment for school on finding your own anchor and he decided that his anchor was the Fosters. He said that all of his life him and Callie had been bumped to many different Foster homes and none of them were any good, the people were not good people and so they did not really have the best childhood as they grew up with no parents because their mother died when they were young and their father is in jail because of her death as he is accused of being the one that killed her. So Jude was saying that now that he has met the Fosters and has finally become a part of their family fully, he feels like he has met his anchor, the one constant thing that is keeping him grounded and stopping him from floating away.

I began to think and I realised that my anchor would also be my family because no matter what is happening in my life whether good or bad, my family is always there to support me, I know that I can tell them anything and they will not judge me only give me support when I need it.

What is your anchor and why is it so important to you ?
